JOB DESCRIPTION
Hydrogen Technicians oversee the production, handling
and optimization of hydrogen-related processes in
industrial or research settings. They ensure safety
compliance in the handling, storage and transportation of
hydrogen and support the development of clean energy
solutions.

Work environment:
Hydrogen Technicians may work in
hydrogen production plants, research
labs or industrial facilities. They solve
diverse technical challenges while
working with innovative technologies
and automation. This role offers the
opportunity to be part of a specialized
and sustainable industry, contributing
to emissions reduction and shaping
the future of energy.
Operate, monitor and maintain hydrogen production
systems.
Perform process optimization, troubleshooting, and quality
control to maximize efficiency and output.
Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and adhere
to regulatory standards.
Collaborate with engineers, researchers and production
teams to improve hydrogen technologies.
Maintain and calibrate instrumentation, sensors and
automation systems for hydrogen production and storage.
Participate in emergency response procedures and
implement safety best practices to mitigate risks.
Analyze data from hydrogen production systems to
enhance performance and sustainability.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics and process flow
diagrams.
TRAINING
Completion of a Hydrogen Technician diploma or completion of a certificate, diploma, or degree in chemical
engineering, process technology or operations, environmental engineering or industrial maintenance.

CAREER PROGRESSION
With experience and additional training,
Hydrogen Technicians can gain advanced
knowledge and expertise in specialized areas,
and work towards leadership roles mentoring
junior technicians. In addition, they may
progress into a Plant Manager role,
overseeing plant operations, production
efficiency and workforce management. They
may also move into teaching roles, passing
their knowledge and expertise onto others.
