JOB DESCRIPTION
Wind Turbine Technicians play a critical role in ensuring
the safe and efficient operations of wind turbines through
installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. They
use Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
systems to monitor turbine performance and inefficiencies
and work closely with other technicians and staff to ensure
optimal operations.

Work environment:
Wind Turbine Technicians have the
opportunity to remain active and
experience the outdoors for most of
their work day. They complete a
variety of practical hands-on activities
and work within environments that
promote strong safety culture and
collaborative work relationships.
Implement troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to
identify operating problems and inefficiencies with wind
turbines, generators, or control systems.
Use specialized instruments to perform mechanical,
hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair
and replacement where necessary.
Apply preventative maintenance and contingency
strategies to minimize disruptions and risk.
Complete detailed service records and reports.
Monitor wind farm data and metrics to ensure wind
turbines are functioning optimally.
TRAINING
Completion of a Wind Turbine Technician Certificate or completion of a certificate, diploma, or degree
in hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or related discipline.
